VPR Cast#116: “Age of Wushu”

Anyone that decides to give Age of Wushu a try, realize that your 10 hours only last for 2 days. Then you get an hour every day after that. It will take about the full 10 hours to stop being completely confused. What most of us did was make a 2nd account and used our 10 hours more productively the second time around and then went VIP afterwards (all time restrictions drop in February). The horrible questing is used to teach you the game but after you finish your school and main storyline you really never quest again since it is one of the worst ways to get xp and money.

Thanks Ryan for having me on. Looking forward to a future cast with some eve talk instead. I’d love more time to go over Wurm Online and why that game is worth people’s time as well.

Completely agree. 10 hours is not really enough to get acclimated to the game either (thus why most of us rolled a 2nd toon and then bought deluxe for the account we liked the most). Just wait for open beta where the time limits are dropped.

Tab target it may be. But it is the best combat in a tab target I have ever played. Hell I forget the damn thing is tab target with how much how you aim your aoe (especially while in the air), direction you face, line of sight, and movement come into play.

And the cash shop is not pay to win. At least not in my opinion. It is however pay to get something faster for idiots that cannot wait a week or two. Since you cap out on your inner skills and external skills you cannot keep your level above others for very long. All the vietnamese players that cash shopped a few weeks ago, I am now on par with them.

I cant really blame these guys for “shoving anything down my throat” It was developed in china for chinese and with chinese culture in mind. Very little was changed and that can be part of its problem over here since western audiences expect and demand certain things from their games that they do not. But if you are looking for a unique experience and an experience that meshes sandbox elements with themepark this is a good a game as any minus much of your typical mmo grind.

Wushu has its flaws though and I think for alot of people those flaws will be deal breakers. At least the game is polished and alot of fun. I get pretty sick of bouncing from one buggy as hell mmo sandbox to another boring as hell sandbox. Perhaps ArcheAge is the real savior for mmo fans. Wushu will most likely turn into a niche of a niche product.
