  1. @Yak: everybody expected this outcome, which is not so bad. If this were WoW, this would be horrible, but given the nature of Darkfall, and how easy it is, especially now, to come by gear, it’s no big deal.

  2. @Ryan: Actually in WOW with the XP gains it only takes like a week or two at the most now to get to end game. That’s the problem is most MMO’s you get to end game in a month or less and all their is to do is to RAID for gear. While gear is great and who doesn’t love shinees. There is more to an MMO then gear. The only smart thing that AV did is not make all these promises that they don’t deliver. Well, not yet anyways. To me it seems like they are rushing it just like the first one to get off the sinking ship. Odd how EQ1 still exists with EQ2. The only MMO that I know of that still has the first game and the second running at the game time.

  3. @Yak Speaking in terms of a MMO lightly, you still have Diablo 2 selling for $40 in stores and online, with a massive following in the game and on the PVP servers while Diablo 3 is doing much the same with the new audience.

They are not technically marketed as MMO’s, but in all reality they are. Both are games that have a massive community that play online in servers. Guild Wars 1 was kinda the same, it was an MMO but you could only go out and do quests with 5 or so people at a time, then you had PVP which was just battlegrounds really to fill in the middle.

  4. @spool lyger how’d you set your own avatar? where does one make an account here?

btw, no trolling was done. just the facts from a little chat with an AV guy :) but as I said, leaving it to Ryan to say or not say anything on the topic.

  5. @Spool: I’m starting to recognize any massively played game, even with diff servers – like fps’s – as mmos… they’re just not mmoRPGs. Right? (except for maybe diablo, etc)

@Apoc: here is where you setup your gravitar: http://en.gravatar.com/

As long as you use that email address in a post, I believe your custom avatar will appear in blogs that have it enabled.

  6. Just so I can shut everyone up if they offer a 7 day trial. This is just based off what I ahve read on the DFO forums. I will take the trial seriously and play it. I love how they claim that roles aren’t classes! Man they are trying to polish that turd. Really, it seems more like an update then a new game. Let’s see how much crap AV fails to promise. They will get existing players to sub for a few months since they don’t have to buy the game client. However, then the game will go back to it’s current state. I trust AV about as much as I do SOE.

  7. @Apoc Yeah I made that gravatar thing like 6-7 years ago and it just follows me everywhere, kinda freaky sometimes, as I don’t expect it and then sudden my pic is just there. Witchcraft!

@Ryan Yeah when speaking technically, there is not much difference between many MMO’s and games that have many many servers, like FPS. But the main difference would need to be drawn between if all these game servers are hosted in one central location, or privately hosted by many company’s all over the world. Ones hosted in a central location, like D3 and such are just technically MMO’s.
